I was born in New Zealand, grew up in Australia, and have been living in Europe for around 10 years now. I am the product of Scottish and Australian parents, dating back to 1790 on the Australian side (Second Fleet) and to a small Highland clan on the Scottish side in the 1700s. As a child (around 10-14 years of age) I acted in a number of TV commercials, including Smarties, Aqua Force (forerunner of Super Soaker) & Big Sister’s cakes. As an adult I’ve continued this to a minor extent in the form of company internal video podcast moderation, narration and voice acting. I also played basketball (the only team sport I was vaguely average at) and chess, and enjoyed bushwalking and catching venomous snakes.I taught English as a foreign language full-time for around 6 years in Germany, teaching at companies like BASF, Deutsche Bank, ABB and John Deere, as well as tutoring Business English at the University of Applied Sciences in Ludwigshafen, and have continued to teach on occasions for the last 4 years as well, so 10 years all told. I also tutored presentation skills; negotiations; translation; technical documentation; intercultural communications; and information design.I now work full-time at a major vendor of business software as a communications expert, focusing especially on new technologies and communities, and collaboration applied to the business – so from Web 2.0 to Enterprise 2.0 – and am aiming to commence a PhD in Information Management next year all going well. Some of my personal interests include web 2.0; intercultural communications; graphic design; fine arts; cartooning; creative writing; literature; mathematical group theory; systemics; information design; usability; human computer interaction; guitar and didgeridoo; chess; bushwalking and table tennis. So, there’s a lot more to say – after all, this is about ME ME ME ME ME! – but I’ll give you all a break now and simply say, great to be here and looking forward to meeting some interesting people!Blog: http://macniven.wordpress.com/

As always it's great chatting with him. I'm always learning new words in German that I would use in regular conversations and sorts. He's definitely friendly and always fun to have a tutoring session with. I'm looking forward to next time!
Sean is always awesome to take lessons. My basic goal is to learn conversational German and we usually shoot the breeze and of course in German with English on my part for the words I don't know and then he helps me with what I don't know to put it into G
I had the awesome opportunity to be his first tutoring session here on Edufire and I must say it was a lot of fun. We talked a lot and I learned a lot of new vocabulary and was able to practice speaking German with the skills I have learned from school. I felt at ease testing my knowledge and if I ever needed help he was there and helped me out. Overall it was a really great session! Two thumbs up from me!
