Hello:
It seems that the site’s search engine is configured to only return info for classes (1:m) on the first search pass. If no classes are found - in small print it asks if the user wants to extend the search to the entire site.
This does not seem fair to the tutors that currently only provide 1:1 sessions on request, since a potential client may just “move on” when the “no classes” message is returned by the first search pass.
True! a class may not yet exist for a specific subject - but there may be many tutors (1:1) available for that subject.
Can you make the search engine more fair by either (a) having the results returned for both classes and tutors on the first pass or (b) giving the user some options to check before submitting the site search (like below):
I want to search for:
[ ] classes only
[ ] tutors only
**note the default setting returns results for the entire site (tutors and classes).
But perhaps there is a valid rationale why classes (1:m) are given a higher priority on the search engine than tutors only (1:1).
Thanks for your consideration
