Hey everyone! My name’s Yuriy. I come from Ukraine and grew up in the city of Lviv which was the best environment ever to completely fall in love with languages. I started with English a couple of years ago, and have not been able to stop ever since. The biggest challenge I ever faced is that I study grammar relatively fast, and I always find myself way behind with my vocabulary. Thus, most of the time I dedicate to words. Being a student of a technical department, I have always surprised people with my great, enormous passion for languages. I did a lot of research in the field of general linguistics and Germanic languages in particular. Lest year, I taught Swedish language at Lviv Polytechnic National University, which was a perfect chance to utilize and increase my skills. About languages, I love everything. I can enjoy declining Icelandic nouns on a sheet of paper, as well as listening to palatalized back plosive consonants in the accents of famous Macedonian performers. My goal is to share what I learnt about languages, in theory and practice. This is the greatest pleasure ever to see a student of yours start speaking a language you adore. |

Hey Yuriv. Welcome to eduFire! Great introduction. :) I went to graduate school with a guy from the Ukraine and I really loved to hear about his journey from Eastern Europe to North America (he lives in Toronto now). Thanks for being a part of the community here!!! |

Hi Yuriv! I very much enjoyed your introduction! I am new here as of today and hope I will find some wonderful students. I had a roommate from the Ukraine and have several beautiful Ukranian Easter Eggs from his family! They are among my favorite things! I’m so glad you love languages the way you do. It is a wonderful passion, and a great talent! Best wishes- Kristin |

Welcome Yuriy! I had a roommate from Ukraine and we had a good time talking about Ukraine and Russia together and listening to the latest Russian tunes =) I spent some time in St. Petersburg and miss it everyday. It’s like something there got inside me. |

I have never been in Russian myself. All my life I have spent in Ukraine, and I never had a chance to go to Russia. I really hope I will have a possibility to fill in this gap soon. They say that the country is very beautiful. |

It is beautiful. Closest I have been to Ukraine is Sochi, Russia….across the Black Sea! But I would love to go to Ukraine someday too! |
|
|
Well, the country is really beautiful. But, honestly, it is true about the Western and the Southern parts. In the East, there is not so much to see |

|
Yeah but I am sure there is always something notable to see even if it isn’t something on a planned list for tourists =) |
