Hi everyone! I’m really looking forward to meeting with all of you more on the forums (and maybe in a lesson?).

I’ve been running a blog on learning Japanese language and culture for over a year now, and I also do a lot of video blogging on Youtube (#11 all time in Japan for one of my channels). I’m hoping to use my blogs (www.tofugu.com & www.koichiben.com) and vlogs to get users to come to eduFire and learn Japanese/English!

I do web design, blogging, and ‘social marketing’ for a living, so if you ever need help with marketing your eduFire account or website, etc., let me know and I’d love to help. This seems like a great community, and I look forward to becoming more of a part of it. Thanks much!

Koichi

Koichi. I saw your You Tube^^ very nice~
Are your parents Japanese?
Even if they are, you don’t talk them with Japanese, do you?
I have friends who have a child in USA, and she never talks Japanese to him.
So he doesn’t undersand any Japanese, though….
I think she should use Japanese to increase his possibilities…
don’t you agree?

I think raising a child in a dual language household can be very beneficial for the child. Being raised on two languages from the beginning is so great, and it exposes the child to their heritage/culture as well. Very enriching.

@Na Na
Hi na na!
My mother is Japanese, but she doesn’t speak too much, though culturally she is very Japanese. My grandparents spoke Japanese a long time ago, but they forgot it from lack of use :(

I think it is very good to teach your child two languages. I read that children with two languages have higher IQ’s later in life.
