Hi there,

I’ve already figured it out how to make Flash Card sets, but I do have both a “can I…?” and a “may I…?” question:

1. Does the system support diacritical marks? I checked out a few French cards and I did see some accents, but I wonder if the special Romanian letters will show correcty. I created a test set and my computer displayed them well, but it would be extremely helpfull to know that users outside Romania can see them the right way on their own browsers…. So could someone please take a look at this set: http://edufire.com/flashcard_sets/1668-english-romanian-flashcards-my-family—familia-mea and just say if the second column looks ok? It should include ş (s-comma), ţ (t-comma) and ă (a-breve). Thanks a bunch! :)

2. What is the cloning feature? Am I allowed to take another set, change the answers to another language, and make a new set? I do have to ask the original author for permission, right? :)

Thanks for the answers I know I’ll get!

Sandra

PS: Just realized that the link will most probably not take you to the same page it takes me, so you won’t be able to see the columns… In this case, could you please look at a couple of cards and say if you saw the diacritics? Thanks! :)

Hey Sandra,

I’m going to bring this to the guys (jon and team) to give you the right answer. I will let you know shortly.

Yikes, we never got back to you on this Sandra?!!! My bad… Here are so not-as-helpful-as-I-would-prefer answers:

  1. - I’m actually not sure. We’ve seen some marks work fine and others not so much. I do believe it does depend a lot on browsers, supported character sets, etc. I wish I could give you a better answer than that but to be honest we’re not 100% sure which sets show well on the ones we’ve created. :)
  1. - There’s not really the ability to trademark/copyright grouping of words (as far as I know…correct me if I’m wrong) so you don’t need to worry about asking for permission. All you’re really doing is taking a set of words from one language and adding in the correct translations in your target language. I don’t think anyone will mind. :)

Thx!
