good teachers or tutors should follow the following steps :

1.you should set a good example for being punctual. You shouldn’t be late for classes. and you should help your learners when they need help.

2. you should maintain your appearance, that’s simply because you are looked at from head to toe by your learner’s examining eyes.

3. you should be creative and invite something new every time you start a lesson. You should know more than the text books have and more than your learners do .

4. you should be fair and distribute turns equally among your learners without showing any kind of bias.

5. dont hold your class in fear and intimidation. Some humour is profitable at a time .

6. Always encourage slow learners by a nice word of praise, this might have a magic effect upon those learners.

7. try to breathe vitality and life in your classes by asking different amusing questions. let your learners express themselves freely without any fear of making mistakes. Just let him / her finish then you can corrct him/her

Fabulous points Fikry. I agree completely, especially with point 6 and have seen it work countless times!

Any other tips from both tutors and students?

Humor is of utmost importance! Also letting the student know that you are still a learner at many new things, and that you, the teacher, are not perfect! Getting the chance to know your student or teacher, is also extremely important, because…a) it’s simply fun, b) it helps you to teach that student better because you can relate their learning to their interests, and c) you each learn new information from each other.

I disagree with #2. On eduFire it’s only how you look from the neck up that matters! ;)

Great list Fikry. Thanks for sharing!!!

LOL we’re all going to be squirming now while in a session. No really, I think most of us are dressed in proper attire we would go out into the world in, right?

Truth: Each morning I get dressed up in a lovely blouse, do my hair and makeup impeccably, throw on sweats and fuzzy slippers, and head for work…all the way down the hall! :-) I love it…
