Has anybody had connection problems with eduFire?

Last night in the UK – would have been approx 4pm Pacific time (Sunday June 22) it was hanging for a couple of hours. I managed to make one post on the forums and that took a good 15 mins to post.

At 1pm UK time (5am Pacific time) I had a booked lesson and had a lot of problems getting in the room, my student couldn’t even make it. Now it seems ok (6:40am PST).

Just logging it here to let you guys know. :)

Everything seems ok right now though when I click on my messages it just hangs. Tried on 3 different computers to rule that out.

I cannot read my messages either.

This is very, very odd. We actually monitor for uptime every 5 minutes and the monitors never contacted us. But we’re digging into it now. My sincere apologies and thank you for letting us know.

ooh it’s back. I haven’t been able to get on the site since starting this thread

No need to apologize Scott, we know you’re on it. Thanks! :)

Whatever you did Scott it’s worked… it’s faster than ever now! :)

Hi there,

Well we’ve been monitoring it closely now for the past 20 minutes or so and all seems good. We did restart our servers just in case and perhaps that helped.

Yep, now everything is working perfect!

Thanks a lot, guys!

Perfect indeed. :)

Note: It is 2am PDT and I have only now been able to logon for the past hour.

As previously, the problem appears to be mainly (though not exclusively) logging in and accessing messages. Now I have got in, I clicked my messages and it hangs, but forums appears to be ok.

FYI: re. above message. I’ve tested every link along the top and the only one where it doesn’t hang right now is forums.

To be sure it isn’t me. I have tried on all 3 of my computers at home. I also called one of my cousins in Italy and couldn’t even get to http://edufire.com.

It’s now 8:20am PDT and in the last 20 minutes everything seems to have returned to normal. For the past few hours logging on has been very sporadic for me. I contacted another tutor who said they also could not log on. If I let it sit there eventually I got this error:

————-
Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /account/login.
Reason: Error reading from remote server
————-

Everything seems ok now.

Marco is a bot :)

That explains so much! :)

Marco C Marco C 585 post(s)

You thought it was Mondays right Sandra? ;)

Ryan, you made my wife laugh out loud! :) I’m not sure if that’s a good thing. :-/ lol

I wouldn’t know how to take that either Marco….lol but it would explain things..

Marco C Marco C 29 post(s)

Hey no harm in being a bot! Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it is what I say! :)

Ok… back to serious stuff.

It’s now 2:20am PDT (Friday) and it’s taken me 30 minutes to connect to edufire. Proxy error again as above. Now that I have connected, as yesterday, it always lets me into the forums. The real problem (as well as not connecting) appears to be messages. I click my message box and it just hangs again.

Hey Marco,

We did some tweaks today that may help — but we’re having a real hard time figuring this one out so we’re kind of in the dark right now. Just out of curiousity though is there anything that’s changed on your side recently?

Hey Scott,

It got working again after 12noon UK time (4am PDT).

Well, it isn’t local to my system as I know of another tutor that had the same problem in another country. I have 3 different PCs and it was the same on all of them, yesterday when it happened I called my family in Italy and they couldn’t access the site at all. Plus re. my email a couple of friends couldn’t access it either.

As I said, what’s weird is that when I do get in, the only thing that works is the forum. As soon as I trying literally anything else it hangs forever or I get a Proxy error as above.

Thanks. :)

I have encountered the same problem as Marco lots of times since Sunday, I think. On Sunday evening I couldn’t log in or read my messages. On Monday I was supposed to have a session and even if I managed to log in (with a lot of difficulty) I couldn’t join the room. I’ve had the same problems several times after that on different days. Generally it seems to happen in the morning or late in the afternoon here, when it’s night in the USA.
