Hi everyone, |
|
|
Fabulous post Hamdy! :) It’s great because tutor marketing is central. eduFire promotes all of us by default and it’s our responsibility to market ourselves as individuals. As you say, why should a student pick me? A great tip is to try and look at your profile through the eyes of a student. Would you pick you? So a full profile with credentials (not just academic), About me, testimonials and a video are all important. Then when you use your URL to market yourself people have all the information they need! For those that haven’t seen it yet, here is my thread on tutor marketing too. |

Another important thing, is to get feedback from your current students and use that to promote yourself, I have usually heard they enjoy learning with me because I make lessons fun and that’s one thing to highlight, there’s no better way to learn than by enjoying yourself and having fun. Wow!! I want to have a lesson with myself now!!! lol Hope ths helps, Sue |

Great info you guys! I also followed Marco’s advice and started putting my link on my signature block, Craigslist advertisements, etc.. |

Great work Raquel, it’ll pay off for sure. :) |

I definitely agree with Susan’s students, I would rather pick someone I have seen around in the forums because I can tell by what they say if their personality might work with mine, etc. The more personable a tutor is the easier it is for me to approach them for a lesson. |

I can vouch that it works Christina! Great points. |

Other than Craigslist, are there any other free/almost free ways to post your services to the rest of the world? I have found several in Asia, but struggling to find European and South American venues… |

:) François- If you want to talk in French, you can create a new thread in the ‘Fireside Chat’ – there is one ‘En español’, why not one ‘En français’? :) |

I agree with you Sandra! |

Sandra is great! The speaker of truth. :) |

(( blush )) Well, why should we all stop talking, when everybody can talk (provided they are civil)? No need for anyone to get angry! :) |

Yes, you’re absolutely right. :) |

I have found that with any income producing activity if you are in it simply for the money you will fail. It has to hold weight with your heart to be a success for you. Also I find it important to make sure to get yourself out there, and without spamming. Simple Marketing is that the more people see you, and your “Brand”, the more likely they are to become a client. So another important note is to ensure that you are representing your “Brand”, with manners, intelligence, and personality. This site is open to all languages, though the frequency of posts in English is happening because English happens to be a very common language worldwide. I am sure there are other students who here who do not speak english, and would love it if an ESL tutor started a chat in their language. It may inspire some of our inactive non-English speakers to learn and participate. I also find that it is important to get your students excited about your lessons. There is no better advertising than word of mouth! |
