Hey all. Wanted to post about a contest we’re running right now for our eduFire Flashcards. The top scoring person as of this Friday (April 8th) at 5 PM PST will win a $25 gift certificate to LearnOutLoud.com (where you can buy language learning stuff or anything else you’d like!). Right now (Tuesday at 8 PM PST) the top scores are as follows:

Dutch = Lijdie (5,110 points)
French = Terry (84,380 points…WOW!)
German = Robin (11,980 points, Anthony in a very close 2nd at 11,860 points!)
Italian = Alejandra (68,250 points…another WOW!)
Portuguese = Nicole (23,700 points)
Spanish = Carrie (38,010 points…c’mon someone…knock her off! :))

This is gonna be fun to watch. I’ll come back and post an update here tomorrow!!!

Wow that is AWESOME! Wish I was a pro at one of those languages! We need some Russian or possibly some Hindi once I get going on that =) I’ll check back for future competitions after I get my game on!

I adore the flashcards! This game is bringing back all of those lost vocab words from college classes buried deep within my memory! Fun times!

I know what you mean Carrie – I’m astonished at how much I remember! It is very fun!

I love competitions! This is so much fun to watch. Nice work in getting to #1 Antonio…now will you be able to stay there? :) The battle in French is pretty intense too. Can you tell how much I love this? :) :) :)

ooohhh pain… lots of pain… I think I’ve gotten carpal tunnel syndrome trying to protect my honor. “Pain is only valuable once you know that you’ve learned from it.”

Dutch = Lijdie (17,500 points, the “easiest” one to go after if you’d like :))
French = Terry (257,610 points, going back and forth with T who has 220K points!!!)
German = Anthony (51,890 points, solidly ahead of Robin and Debra but not out of the woods yet!)
Italian = Alejandra (220,280 points…big lead over Antonio!)
Portuguese = Nicole (89,950 points, Alejandra close behind with 76K!)
Spanish = Mr. Carpel Tunnel Syndrome with 214,530!!!)

Hey ya’ll…It’s just fortunate for Antonio that I have company coming into Denver today….otherwise, he would have true sudden victory, but only in his imagination! Hah, hah! So, someone please give Antonio a run for his prize! Spring…I know you could do it for sure! He just loves the competition anyway! I agree…the flashcards are addictive, but if there are phrases, the timer for points is a bit too fast. Have fun out there, everyone! I will miss the game for the next week. ¡Ciao!

Anthony (52,960) vs. Debra (52,890) in Gore-Bush epic closeness in German…we will be looking for hanging chads in that one (+ Robin not too far behind at 42,630!)
Nicole (90,790) vs. Alejandra (76,120) in Portuguese

The other languages seem like they are decided…or maybe not… :)

Also, I got called away for something at 5 PM PST today so we’re going to officially end the contest at 7 PM PST instead. That’s two more hours to develop carpel tunnel syndrome. ;)

Candy, what do you mean “only in his imagination!”? I’m highly offended… my pride bruised… my honor tainted… you are not imaginary are you? I have the scars (well, more like a numb index finger) to prove the competition is real enough. As for you, there is no honor in retreat (today it’s company from Denver, tomorrow an alien abduction). I will make an exception this time though, you may walk away but let it be publicly known that you relinquish all rights to the title “Master of the Spanish Universe” (I hope there is a Spanish Universe). As to everyone else, well… good luck trying to catch up when I channel my inner Speedy Gonzales.
