I have just seen a story about a 33 year old German athlete who has qualified in the Vault event in womens’ gymnastics. Way to go Germany!

Yes and her story is amazing – she was originally from Ukraine, I think and went to Germany for her son. He has Luekemia (in remission now) and she couldn’t get the medical attention she needed at home. She contacted a coach she knew from Germany and was able to get him help there. Competing in the Olympics is her way of saying thanks.

I love the story of the 33 yr old female weight lifter from the US who set a US record (even though she didn’t get a medal) in her event. I don’t remember what it was, I just remember that she lifted a big a__ dumb bell! She credits her Autistic son with being her inspiration!

I’d love to hear everyone else’s favorite Olympic moments/stories. There are a lot of really great ones out there!

There are some awesome stories surrounding the athletes that makes their accomplishments even more amazing.

I love the story about the Israeli swimmer whose father just passed away. He decided to stay because he knew his father would want him too. He got an Israeli record – very cool! I’m sure Dad is very proud.
