Gosh, where do I begin…Ireland was lovely, lush and green and the people were darling and hilarious! Guatemala in the rainforest was amazing! Okay, Mexico…I LOVE Puerto Vallarta…I honestly don’t know how many times I’ve been there…almost every year from 12 to 22. Guadalajara both times were great! Germany I think I asked for directions in every language I knew! Austria was gorgeous and the people are soooooo nice! Italy was amazing… The cathedrals, art, food, architecure…my goodness I have to go back…there is so much to see. Rome was da bomb diggity!!!! I could spend years there trying to see it all! That’s all for now.

Hi Raquel! Well I love Colorado and the Rockies. First time I saw them I was like ‘wow’ They took my breath away. I also loved how in the winter it is cold but sunny making it feel warmer than it does in the UK with the milder but damp weather. Loved Boulder and it’s vibe plus plenty of good vegetarain/vegan options for me which is often hard to find on my travels.

I had a a blast on my vacation to Sochi in November of 2002 and a lot of laughs. For some reason the Georgian men had a thing for me and I was constantly getting proposals at the market and my friends were teasing me about that too. But I have to say the funniest part of the whole vacation was our taxi driver who took us to up to this huge tower and he talked our ears off but was so dramatic and so happy! The whole experience with him was a riot, but the end was the best. We went up to the tower and it had this windows looking out and being a young carefree soul I decided I wanted to pretend to be a princess locked up in a tower somewhere…but I needed a prince, and I told my friend Nate he should step in (I was with him, 2 girlfriends and the taxi driver so naturally I’d select the guy I actually knew) well Nate wasn’t so keen on the idea but the driver volunteered and got very into the part, reaching up his arm to rescue me for the photo. It was great! I still chuckle when I think of how bizarre he probably thought I was but how much fun he seemed to have playing the part of he prince. And then it was also funny because he was probably in his early 60s and I was 19. Random all around but I had so much fun. I have a picture somewhere but my friend cut off everything of the driver except his arm (I didn’t have a digital camera so I wasn’t able to check until it was too late) Sad but it’s something at least.

Hey Debbie! My sister was there in college studying English literature. She loved Big Ben and all the usual attractions but she was obsessed with the libraries…she even took pictures of all of them! I love my bookworm sister!

Raquel, random I know. But it was so much fun, in fact that whole vacation was the best ever! I loved Sochi and it was soooooo relaxing! I am so glad that the Olympics are going to be held there I think in 2014 (?)

So I wanted to share a picture, how do I do that techies? I actually found a full length pic of the scene I was telling you about with my prince charming! It’s just his face isn’t showing, I thought it was his whole body got cut off but apparently not. I have one with me and him afterward too and the tower that we went to to overlook Sochi.

Kurt I have it on my computer but I am wondering how to paste a picture here to share with everyone? It doesn’t seem to be working for me. Do I have to upload to photobucket or something first and share the link?

Wow girls!! You really had fun.Unluckily, I travelled abroad once to Libya to work in 2005 but it was not a great experience. However, I can say that this journey changed my life. I was not working with wild animals before that time. It was the first time when someone came to my clinic there. He was complaining because he had gazelles and they were not in a good shape. We did not study wild animals in our university that’s why it was confusing for me to treat them. Oh, I was really curious and happy to see those pretty wild animals. I dealt with them as they are domestic goats although it was not so right. In 2 weeks he came with 2 dogs and was thankful because they stopped dying and became healthy. I was soooo happy and it was a great success to me. Since that time, I planned to go on with wild animals. In 3 months, I was enrolled at wildlife diploma at Cairo University and I had the best scores among my colleages. I am also the only one in my town who has this certificate and who even has knowledge of wild animals and birds. Now, I can’t stop myself from continuing my dream to be a professor of wild animals and do researched everywhere in the jungles, forests and in the bushes.

Although my journey was not excited but it changed my life as I did not look forward to continuing my studies!!!

I was amazed and enamored by the Redwoods in Eureka, Ca. The hikes out there were just beautiful. Natural rainforests butting up against the coastline is just an awesome sight. I hope to get back there real soon

Me, my backpack, my EurailPass and a whole month in Europe (and no cell phone for Mom and Dad to check up on me – this was pre-cell phone days). It was pretty amazing! I wasn’t much older than Kurt is and I hope he is better behaved than I was. ;)

When i lived in Colombia, I went on a trip to San Agustin Archaeological Park. We took a bus through the mountains (from Cali), and when we stopped for a potty break, all the men got out, faced the bus, and did their business. My roommate and i asked where ladies could go, and they pointed behind a nearby house. We headed back there expecting an outhouse, and found a muddy pigpen, replete with large hog! We had no choice…Mother Nature called…
That night when we arrived in San Agustin, the whole town was sitting in the main street, watching one tiny TV to watch The Simpsons—this was a much anticipated show each week! Soon after, we were told there was a curfew due to FARC movement, so we holed up in our hotel.
The next morning, our showers consisted of cold mountain water…BRRRR! Then, after we paid for the hotel, we realized we didn,t have enough cash to pay for the horseback private tour of the park we reserved. So we both went out onto the street and sold our Walkmans within 10 minutes.

We then went on the most breathtaking tour of our lives—lush Andes mountainside strewn with thousand+ year old monuments. We could touch them, exlpore them, etc. (Probably not cool from an archaeologist’s standpoint, but incredible nonetheless). We staye dfor much longer than planned, and the last chiva bus was leaving the park. We ran to hop on, only to find we had no seats. Two men were lying on top of the chiva, holding down a load of sugarcane. We wer tod that for a discount, we could stand on the rear bumber and hold onto the ladders! Between the two of us, a large hog was tied onto the chiva! he stared at me the whole way home.
needless to say, of all of my travels, this was the most memorable day I spent…

Wow – what an awesome experience!

It does remind me how much I appreciate indoor plumbing and cable TV!

FYI: I forgot to mention that everywhere I went in Colombia, any time I needed to use a public restroom, I had to pay someone for a few squares of TP. Sometimes I had to pay to use the restroom AND for the TP! I learned to carry some in my pocket eventually….

I ventured to the California Redwoods as a child, and look forward to taking my kids there. I like exploring things locally as far as zoo’s, museums, attractions, and theme parks. I look forward to visiting the moaning caverns, The Mystery Spot, and Winchester Mystery House here in California. I would also like to go gold panning. I like visiting Southern California for the theme parks and to visit my nephews, BIL & SIL. Other than that, I look forward to travelling
