If you’ve done a session on eduFire and it hasn’t gone perfectly (e.g., any latency, problems connecting, etc.)…you’re in luck. We’re in the process of evaluating a new platform for video chat here at eduFire and what we’re willing to do is set you up with a free session with your tutor (the one who you did a session with originally when you had the problems) on this new platform. This will help us evaluate whether the performance of the new platform is better.

If you’re interested send me a message through the site or drop me a line at jon at edufire dot com and I’ll give you details.

Also, if you’re a tutor and have had any problems please contact me as well. We’ll pay you for your time to do a session on the new platform and it’ll free for your student so it’s a win-win.

Jon,

Isadora and I could not connect into the classroom together this morning for our German session at NOON (EDT). We would connect but were able to only chat but the video and audio didn’t work. It kept saying “Waiting for the other party to connect”.

What happening for to occur?

So it said ‘waiting for other party to connect’ yet you were both able to use the chat facility? Interesting, any other information?

Did either of you try leaving and coming back into the room?

We did that four times. Closed the session out three times and sent 3 requests for session. Nothing worked.

Can’t give you a definitive answer right now, however, I have a couple of sessions coming up in 10 minutes, I should be done in about 45 minutes.

I’ll report back how they went and if they were ok we can connect together if you like and have time? Just to help minimise the reduce the troubleshooting.

Jon,
Sorry to post another issue in relation with the new platform.
I was supposed to have a session with Guy W.
I entered the class 10 mns before the scheduled time and was ready to start : video + audio working perfectly.
Guy tried to enter, but for some reason, in “meeting” tab, there was a pre-set setting for “block attendees” ok, not a real issue…
I unticked the “block attendees”, and so normally the session should have started…
I received the message “Guy wants to enter the meeting”, I clicked on ACCEPT, but nothing on his side happened.
He could see and hear me, but I was unable to allow audio + video for him, as the ACCEPT button led to nowhere…
So again, the system doesn’t work correctly, I am sorry to bring that evidence…

Jean-Marie did you enable the audio and video for Guy W? Once you allow the person to enter then you must enable their audio and video so that they can communicate with you. He also must allow his mic and camera to be shared. Does that shed some light or did you do that and it still didn’t work?

hello Christina,

The problem is when I received the request " Guy wants to have permission to enter the meeting", I clicked on ACCEPT of course, but nothing happened next, so I was unable to allow him video + audio, since he needs first to be in the classroom.
He confirmed nothing happened on his side, and on mine either…

But if he wasn’t in the room how could he hear and see you? I do see the problem though. It’s as though he was in the room but the system didn’t recognize it on your end for you to enable his audio and video. I’ll pass this on to Jon.

That is a good question….!
he was not in the room, he had no allowed video + audio functions, but he said he could see and hear me ???? very strange
on my side, I could read his text in the chat box, but couldn’t see and hear him at all.
I sent Jon 2 messages to report the incident.

So he was in the room then if he could chat with you and see and hear you. But you were not able to enable his video or audio so he wasn’t being detected or something. Hmmm interesting.

I saw on another thread it seems Marco had the same problem too but both parties left the room and closed applications then went back in and it worked. It must have been a glitch right at the same time for all of you =( I sent messages to Jon for more clarity too. I know some testing is going on so hang tight guys.

Yes, something triggered this message but it was quickly resolved for both of us by just leaving completely and re-entering.
