Ok, I’m currently preparing to go back to college for the year, and I need an extremely efficient sleep schedule. Does anyone have one out there? Does anyone know techniques I can use to maximize efficiency? |

Hey Brad? Sleep efficiency as in get to sleep quickly or time management in order to get some sleep? :) For getting to sleep quickly there are some good relaxation techniques on the net. For the latter the same is true. May seem obvious but good time management guidelines can be useful. It’s about planning and dividing your day etc. Best of luck! :) |

Hey, Jareth, could you explain to us why you need an efficient sleep schedule? Are you talking about maximizing the time you study, play, etc. at college? How much sleep do you normally require to feel good? When I was at college, I got at least seven hours of sleep…sometimes less on the weekend, but I did well in college because I was not sleep deprived usually. So think about that. I know that if you are very active and you have a hard time falling asleep, you can cover your face with a sheet and drop off to sleep in no time. I did a paper on sleep after researching Cornell’s medical library, and a lot ob books said to keep to a regular schedule. If your schedule does get changed drastically, alter your sleep times by fifteen minute increments…not more. That’s all I know about sleep schedules. Is there a doctor in the house? |

When my daughter was a baby she would not sleep. She would scream, but not sleep. We actually had to see a Sleep Specialist! I learned a lot about how important a good nights sleep is (partly from having little ones and not being able to get one myself) and Candy hit it when she talked about the regular schedule. And 8 hours a night. I remember the doctor saying that a good nights sleep would increase your efficiency so getting 8 hours of sleep will make 1 hour of work 4 times more effective. I took him at his word and now I’m a believer. I may work from 9 – 5, but I sleep from 9 – 5 too! As for falling asleep, I have found that if I spend time at some point during the day meditating, I sleep so much better! It helps with that efficiency thing too! |
