Tennis!

I was just wondering if there are any Tennis fans here. I am somewhat of a addict and watch when I can, all year round. What prompted me to write was last weekend’s final at Wimbledon between Nadal and Federer. Being a Nadal fan I had a very good weekend.The match was hailed as probably the best final ever.

The French are crazy about Nadal. Given that a Frenchman could not win at Roland Garros, most people here were thrilled that Nadal won. The Nadal/Federer Wimbledon final was the #1 topic in my lessons the week after the final.

That is good to know :) The English are pretty crazy for Nadal also. He won the warm up tournament to Wimbledon (Queens) and then won Wimbledon of course! The TV ratings were excellent here and in the US for the final.

Since I was a little kid I was intrigued with the sport…I think it’s the contact! I like baseball and basketball as well but not as much as football and I’m so happy the season is right around the corner! :) Oh, and I am a huge Golf enthusiast as well.

Tennis is cool I just don’t follow it enough to have an intelligent conversation about the players or tournaments.

I am Broncos fan! I went to see the last Monday night football game at the old Mile High Stadium against the Raiders before they went to the new stadium.

I used to be a tennis fan, but these days I just don’t have the time to follow it. I watched it in the days of McEnroe and Navritolova! I love playing it, but these days am so very out of shape.

McEnroe is now a great tennis commentator!

Yes he is, and he also stars in a few funny commercials lately.

He does? I’ll have to see if I can catch them. He appeared in a couple of funny ones here in the UK a couple of years ago too. :)

I love McEnroe!! During Wimbedon when he is over here commentating for US TV, we get lots of McEnroe time, especially with all the rain delays! :)

My brother plays tennis and is very much like McEnroe, lol.

Debbie, I’m a total tennis addict so its not just you :) I watch as much as I can….at least all 4 majors. Sometimes the timezone is an issue, esp. the Australian Open. I agree the Wimbledon final was unbelievable. I watched the whole thing and then watched the breakers again on Tivo! I admit that I wanted Federer to win esp. since it would have been from 2 sets down which has never been done in a Wimbledon final (I don’t think). But I’m also very impressed with Nadal and think he’s a great Champion and probably the number 1 player right now. We are lucky to have 2 fantastic players at the top of the game that provide such good matches!

Hi there Bud! Wow!! Another tennis fan! :) That is exciting! It was a terrific final. The hard court season is here too which will be good for US TV viewing. I have spent many a late night (by that I mean going to bed at 5am!) to watch a US Open night match. I love the night matches! :) I went to Wimbledon this year which was fun. I may have to do the US Open one year!!

Anyone watching the Toronto Masters?

I love tennis too. Played a tournament this weekend, but had three singles matches in 100 degrees, and lost the last one 11-9 in a third set tiebreaker. I also love bowling.

I cannot imagine playing in 100 degrees! That last match much have been a bit of a heartbreaker being such a tight match.

Yes! I am definately a fanatic. Nadal has just won the masters in Toronto. He is on a roll! If he wins in Cincinnati and Federer does not make the semis, he will get the No.1 seeding. If not, he will be getting that no.1 before too long.

Well Nadal will get the no.1 on the 18th!! Tomorrow Nadal plays Djokovic in the semi finals at the Olympics. Should be a great game. Federer got beaten today in the quarter finals by James Blake! Blake had never beaten Federer before so it was a big win for him and great for the US of course.

We tend not to follow sports very much in my house. I love playing tennis though. DH loves soccer, but does not have the time to follow it.
