That’s awesome Kurt! I looooooooooooved living with a host family! I miss them dearly! You’re going to love going abroad. |

Yeah It’s going to be AWESOME! The greatest thing that most do not get is that I have the chance for 2 host families and 2 different cities. My first host family in Hamburg can only host me for the first semester then I get to go wherever. I’m definitely going to Munich! I can’t wait!!! August 16th seems SO far away! |

Just make sure while you’re there to savour every moment. The second time I went back to Russia I had my own apartment and the girls I was overseeing had host families. I always told them it was going to go by sooooo fast and then come December when we were going to be leaving in a few weeks they were crying that they hadn’t taken the time to really induldge in the experience as much as they had hoped. |

i don’t think you have to worry about me not savouring it. I’m having to work my butt off to get there so every moment is going to be like the best ever. I’m getting to see one of my eduFire tutors in person too. It’s pretty cool because he’s invited me to meet his family and sorts. I’m very excited to meet him and his family! and as he mentioned I can’t wait to build with legos with his kids. I certainly miss the days of lego building with my cousin when I was a kid. And also I’m getting to see two of the exchange students that we’ve hosted at my high school which i think is awesome. I’ll be living about thirtyminutes from the one we had this past year and then since I get to transfer schools for my second semester I’ll be spending my second semester with Magda who was an exchange student at my high school my sophomore year. It’s sooooo exciting! I get 2 host families how cool huh!? |

Way cool! Then maybe you’ll go back with university once you’re in that stage of life. How are your parents feeling about you leaving for the year? |
Well i live in a single parent house..but he’s pretty cool with it. He doesn’t want me to go but he says that if it’s my dream he supports it. And Yeah I’m planning on going to university in Germany. I wanna go to LMU. |

CONGRATS! You’ve GOT to blog/photoblog/vlog/let-us-live-vicariously-through-you during your time there. |
lol I certainly will do that Sean no worries. I guess I should go ahead and get it set up and all and start blogging about getting ready to go and sorts. One day you could definitely stay updated is through myspace. I keep that up to date so. But I think I will go create a blog right now! Any suggestions on a nice place to blog at anyone? |
When I’m in Spain, I’m going to use Blogger. It’s very straight-forward and is much better than myspace :) |
Well I know it’s better than myspace. I just have been on there for ages now. It’s just one of the millions of way to contact me and get the scoop of whats going on with me. I was looking into Blogger though…but I’ll make final decisions tonight..after work.. :( |

Very cool. I did an AFS cultural exchange in Montenegro (then "Yugoslavia") right after high school and it changed my life. Some of the dudes had weird preconceptions (so to speak) about American females, but it was an amazing experience. I stayed with a Serbian family which had left Kosovo because they said they were being attacked by Albanians. The daughter was my age (17). She, her cousin and I hitchhiked along the Dalmatian coast and into Bosnia to Mostar and Sarajevo – how beautiful it was. This was in the early 80’s before the war. Back at their home in a seaside Montegran town we drank sour cherry brandy and Turkish coffee in tiny cups and then read each other’s fortunes in the grounds. I learned enough Serbian by the end of my stay to be a somewhat proficient coffee-cup fortune-teller. The folks songs and dances were very moving and fun. The beer was very good too. I remember careening ecstatically from ocean-view cliffs in a convertible sportscar with Lazar of the the strategically self-inflicted arm scars. I think he was a body guard at Sveti Stefan casino. Goodness knows I wouldn’t be so reckless today.. Enjoy and STAY SAFE. :-) |

I got my host family (not sure if it’s funny ?) |

nyuk nyuk nyuk (<—snarky laughter derived from the ancient “Three Stooges” series, decidedly non-Goth) The student who lands the Ozzy Osbourne household as his host family is surely in for a culture shock, if not a shocking cult. (ouch – sorry!) |

I like blogger.com!! |

You guys are crazy! ;) I belong in that crowd too so no worries….no I think I i have a normal host family..I mean they all play tennis so that’s always a sign of a nice family. That’s a bit stereotypical…but ya know… |

By the way Kurt ! KURT is the short form for KONRAD “kühn-Rat” but in Turkish (there are many Turks and Kurds in Germany) KURT means WOLF. |
